INTRODUCTION:
The Parrsboro Band Association (PBA) is investigating the feasibility of re-establishing the Parrsboro Band Hall as an integral and valuable part of the community. The PBA believes that Parrsboro and the surrounding area will benefit from the additional resources that can be offered by a refurbished Band Hall containing a Regional Culture and Wellness Centre for South West Cumberland County. The Centre will be designed to complement existing establishments in the area that offer community services, performing arts, tourism, and healthy activities by filling identified gaps.

The PBA’s objective is two-fold:

1) To support and expand the present cultural and tourist activities in the community by providing a venue for full-year performances. Existing theatre and performance facilities are either seasonal or relatively small. The refurbished Band Hall will provide a large, well designed facility for theatre, musical and other types of cultural activities.

2) To establish a community wellness centre to enhance and support the well-being of Parrsboro and area residents. The Community Wellness Coalition of York County, Maine, describes the vision for community wellness as:

“Well-being for individuals, families and communities in all the
interdependent dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional,
intellectual, spiritual, social, cultural, occupational,
financial/material, and environmental.”
