We’ve Been Busy
Hammers have been ringing and saws have been sawing at the old band hall. As well as new steps on the front and back, some new clapboards have replaced the one that were badly deteriorated. Part of the roof has new shingles and the old wooden canopies over the front and back doors are now gone.
We’ve also cleaned up a bit around the grounds and more work will soon be done to keep the grass and weeds under control.

The name of your organization has also changed from the Parrsboro Band Association to the Parrsboro Cultural Centre Society—sounds high falutin doesn’t it, but we’re aiming for a first class centre that will be a real asset to the community.
We’re going to be doing publicity this summer. We’ll be at the Ottawa House in July for its old fashioned picnic and band concert.
Preparatory meetings are also underway for the formation of our business plan. We hope to have an artist’s rending of what our Cultural Centre might look like down the road, but you’ll all have a voice in that decision.
Because of the work involved we need to enlarge our original circle to include a committee structure with members for finance, facilities, planning, publicity and communications. If you have an ability in any of these areas, or even an interest in helping out, please let us know. The Cultural Centre is a huge project and you know what grandma used to say—”many hands make light work.”
You can reach us via the net or by regular mail at PO Box 712, Parrsboro NS B0M 1S0
