PARRSBORO – Who better to come out in support of a performance venue than the performers themselves?

Entertainers of a number of different varieties will perform at the Parrsboro Band Hall on Saturday, Feb. 17, with all proceeds from the event going in support of the Save the Hall campaign.

“It’s going to be an old-fashioned concert, and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” said campaign membership chairman Brenda Wheaton. “Rain, snow or shine the show will go on, and it will be a great place to come out to on a Saturday evening.”

The variety show will begin at 7 p.m.

While not revealing the names of any performers, Wheaton said the event would feature a wide range of local talent, from dancers to singers, pianists, guitarists and even a former yo-yo champion. Skits will also be performed.

“There’s lots going on but there’s always room for more,” she said. “If anyone has a specific talent they want to share with us, they can call (president) Michael Fuller (254-2972) if they wish to perform.”

Hosting the event will be “the lively” Dilly MacFarlane.

Tickets are available in advance at Parrsboro Home Hardware; Kiss the Sky and Sweet Brier Boutique.

Meanwhile, the Save the Hall committee is also planning a Tea and Tour to coincide with its annual general meeting on Feb. 22.

In other news, the contract for the consultant hired to complete the campaign’s business plan will soon be announced, according to Wheaton, although work will not begin until the new fiscal year begins on April 1.

The committee has been assisted by the Cumberland Regional Economic Development Association (CREDA) in dealing with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and has also received funding from the provincial Department of Health Protection and Promotion and the office of economic development.
