PARRSBORO – The beer will be cold, the sausages hot and the music good as Oktoberfest is celebrated at the Parrsboro Citizens Band Hall.
The band, particularly the Save the Hall committee, will be holding the celebration on Saturday, Oct. 28 as a fundraiser for the campaign to restore and refurbish the building as a local cultural and wellness centre.
“One of our board members suggested doing it and everyone thought it was a great idea,” said committee vice-chairman Colin Curleigh. “So we looked into it and found we had enough time to plan it and promote it and the band had some oompah-pah music they were working on.”
Performing at the event will be the Elastic Big Band, who plan to fill the hall with Oktoberfest music and create an atmosphere of community and celebration.
The $15 admission will offer not only an evening of entertainment, but also a souvenir beer stein and a free beverage of the purchasers choice.
All proceeds from the event will go towards saving the hall.
“It’s something different that we’re trying out this year, along with a series of other events,” said Curleigh. “We’re hoping to get a good turnout, and have this as a successful start to the series.”
The band is also planning a Christmas concert in collaboration with the Parrsborough Shore Historical Society to be held in December he said.
