The Parrsboro Citizens’ Band will be having an open house on Tuesday, September 29 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at the Band Hall. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the public to meet some of the band members, see some of the band’s artefacts, and discuss our beginners’ lesson program.
We want to show the community the fun we have as band musicians, and underline that any member of the community can become part of our musical tradition.
Please bring a friend.

This great Blue Grass band from Montreal is stopping at the hall for a one night performance in transit to the Folk Harbour Festival in Lunenburg.
The Halifax String Quartet will be performing at the Hall on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. Formed in 2001, the Halifax String Quartet performs professionally in the Halifax area, and is happy to be making their second appearance in Parrsboro. Join violinists Lee Park and Jennifer Lau, violist Jennifer Bentley, and cellist Sarah Ramer for a show that is sure to delight. The HSQ will perform a wide selection of music, including works by Claude Debussy, Arcangelo Corelli, and Halifax-based composers Ryan Veltmeyer and Alice Hansen. In addition, the concert will include jazz and tango pieces arranged exclusively for the HSQ by Jennifer Bentley. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Close to two hundred people come out in full force on Saturday to battle away the mid winter blues and were treated to a variety of talents from our region. Here are some photos that highlight the event.
The Sackville (NS) Community Band is comprised of 55 members varying in ages and musical experience who were brought together for their love of music. They are from many walks of life – professional musicians, retired musicians, local music teachers, students and members from the community. They come well recommended and it will be a treat for us to see people in “tuxes”.

Instrumental Improvisation Intensive
Update July 17
As of today the intensive- an excellent descriptive- is going extremely well. The motivators of the session are seasoned professionals who bring an incredible wealth of knowledge to the world of painting with music. Paul Cram, saxophonist, is the magician who put all the people together. Pierre Tanguay, master percussionist brings charm, grace and a wonderful sense of playfulness. Deanne LaBrosse, sampler and electronic guru opens the door to a world of potential through her theatric innovations and Lyle Ellis, bassist and stalker of interplanetary wavelengths unleashes a new way of seeing/hearing the way we see/play music. A fabulous experience thus far, floundering through revelation.
