Dear Charity Golf Friends:

The Parrsboro Band Association in conjunction with the “Save the Hall” restoration project are hosting the annual Bernie Burke Memorial Golf Tournament. The fund raising event will take place on Friday, 22 August 2008 at the picturesque

Parrsboro Golf Club on the phenomenal Bay of Fundy. The beneficiaries of this charitable event will be The Palliative Care Unit and the “Save the Hall” project, both in Parrsboro.

As his daughters, it gives us great pride to remember our father by supporting some of his favourite charities. “Bernie” was the dedicated Parrsboro Citizens’ Band Bandmaster for almost 50 years. He was instrumental in the organization of the Sea Cadet Band as well. In his latter years he was a member of “The Elastic Band”. He gave willingly of his time, love and talent for music which was never far from his heart.

In the past we have sponsored the Parkinson’s Society and the Canadian Cancer Society. Last year we sponsored charities that made a direct impact in Parrsboro. We have chosen the same charities again this year and are those mentioned in paragraph one.

Our local Palliative Care Unit continues to provide great comfort to those in the final stages of their lives. The “Save the Hall” restoration project will continue its work in developing a Cultural and Wellness Centre.

Many of you have been great supporters of our Tournament in the past and we look forward to you joining us again this year for a fun gathering.

Sincerely,
Brenda Wheaton and Patricia Burke (Co-chairs)
