The Association is pleased to host the Annual General Meeting of the Nova Scotia Heritage Trust which will be held at the Hall beginning Friday May 30 and ending on Sunday June 1. We are very proud to have secured such a prestigious event which certainly reflects our ongoing collaborative commitment with the Trust in our endeavor to restore and reuse the hall as Culture and Lifestyle Centre for our region of Nova Scotia. The NSHT has been instrumental in our development thus far by endorsing our project and by supporting us financially through a donation targeted for developing community use; specifically for equipment for our Film Society component and the creation of a promotional dvd to be used in promoting our cause.

The NSHT will be hosting a meet and greet and dvd launch at 2pm on Saturday, May31. Everyone is invited to attend and meet the good folks from NSHT.

I dropped by the Workshop on Thursday and was really impressed by the use of the hall and the work that the artists had accomplished that day. Here are some photos that reflect those impressions.

Last year’s Parrsboro Band Christmas Concert was a tremendous success. We are pleased to share this video – which presents Timi Levy and Chuck Homewood, performing Monti Csardas.

Do you have any videos or photos of important events or concerts held at the Hall? Please let us know about them.

Isn’t this a terrific performance? Leave a comment and share your thoughts.

My memories are mostly of one person. Bernie Burke. In my time in the band from around 1974-78, it was Bernie. When I look back as an adult today, growing up in the greatest little town in Canada, we had a great marching band and stage band. From Tyne Valley to The Natal Day Parade, and finally two trips to New Brunswick. One to the Maritime Music Festival and to St. Andrews By The Sea and the day it rained all day for the “MUSICAL RIDE”.

Bernie was always there for the kids of Parrsboro who wanted to be in the band and had some sort of talent. He did more for the youth in the town of Parrsboro than anyone past, present, or furture. And I have been truly blessed to have known Bernie Burke.

Keep up the good work and I am ready to help out again some weekend you are having a work party. PS, I think that my sister had a good time in the band as well with Kendra Muir , Kathy Matheson, Susan Boyd and others much older than me !!!!!!!!!!!!
